UPDATE: Disneyland Park announces Reopening of Mickey’s TownTown for March 19, 2023

Mickey’s Toontown, the highly anticipated theme park attraction, has been postponed due to being behind schedule as a result of construction delays. Fans of Disney and Mickey Mouse like myself have been eagerly awaiting for this grand opening, and it looks like now will have to wait a bit longer.

The Disney team is working hard to ensure that Mickey’s Toontown will meet the high standards set by Disney parks and provide a magical experience for guests. The new date for Mickey’s Toontown reopening is set for March 19, 2023.

During the celebration of Mickey and Minnie Mouse’s birthday, Disney has released the official opening of Mickey’s ToonTown for March 19, 2023 (previously March 8th)! This land has been reimagined for families and young guests to experience the magic of Disney in a new way. Disney has mentioned that their goal was to have a space that would be centered around more interactive play and with an emphasis on inclusivity for guests of all ages.

We can expect to see open spaces with grass in what Disney calls the CenTOONial Park which makes sense given that in January, Disney will be celebrating 100 years! One interactive element is the fountain which is said to feature water tables so as to invite guests to stimulate their senses when playing. The second interactive element is called the dreaming tree, for young guests have the opportunity to explore.

One of the most anticipated attractions in Mickey’s Toontown that was announced this year at the D23 Expo was Disneyland getting Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Walt Disney World has long had this attraction in their Hollywood Studios lot so we are in for a treat.

Our Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction will be inside of the El CapiTOON Theater and you will be immersed in the world of Mickey and Minnie which is a bit quirky given that our beloved Goofy is serving as its engineer–Gawrsh! This attraction however is set to open on January 27, 2023 due to Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder Celebration so make sure to tune into my social media channels that day as I will be in the parks documenting my experience live!

Another area created for this land is Goofy’s How-To Play Yard shown here courtesy of Disney Parks. Here young guests can discover Goofy’s sound garden where they will undoubtedly hear silly sounds and get to enjoy a new upgraded clubhouse.

Inside Goofy’s home, guests will find a confectionery contraption where the goal is to assist Goofy with making candy. Parents, I am telling you now to not be alarmed, this is not going to be REAL CANDY, but rather it will be  an interactive candy making experience for your littles.

Of course we can’t forget the famous Donal Duck! He will have a boat that is just above a duck pond. It will definitely make for a fun filled day if you are needing to cool off for a bit in the parks. I imagine this truly being the best space to help little ones release any pent up energy as they can also explore balance beams, rocking toys and interact with the famous Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby through the portholes on the boat!

If you have any little ones who have let you know they want to go on “a big kid ride,” this will be the one you will want to hype them up for–Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster. Essentially this attraction was made in mind with what Disney called “the town’s tiniest citizens”.

Mickey and Minnie’s Houses are still in this land and you will continue to have an opportunity to explore the inside of them. If you are lucky when passing by this area, it is possible for you and your loved ones to take photos with Mickey and Minnie so keep your eyes peeled!

Classic favorite for many is Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin which will also be returning. If you haven’t yet experienced this, this attraction stems from the adventures of Roger Rabbit where he takes you along on a ride through streets and alleys of ToonTown.

If the idea of going through all of this in just one land is making you tired and hungry, do not fear! Disney has stated that there will be new places to grab some snacks. One of these is the Café Daisy (more of a sit down table eatery), and a local stand called ToonTown Farmers Market at Good Boy! Grocers where you can find what Disney calls “grab-and-go drinks and treats”.
