Bob Iger Announces Groundbreaking New Attraction: The Avatar Experience, Coming to Disneyland
Bob Iger, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, announced today on February 8, 2023 according to Deadline that Disneyland will be opening a new experience based on the popular film franchise, Avatar. The Avatar Experience is what Iger has called it but has not provided any further details regarding its debut nor what we as guest can expect to experience from it.
Avatar, was directed by James Cameron and the original film released in 2009 telling the story of a battle between humans and the indigenous Pandora population, the Na’vi, over the control of valuable resources on the planet. This film was a box office success and has since become a beloved franchise which led to the most recent release of Avatar: The Way of Water in December of 2022.
Disney has a long history of creating unforgettable experiences for its guests, and the Avatar Experience I would imagine will be no different! In Walt Disney World, inside of the Animal Kingdom, there lies the Avatar Flight of Passage attraction—and wow it is incredible! It had me in awe as I truly felt I was experiencing the world of Pandora through Disney’s use of cutting-edge technology and special effects! It was awesome to feel as if I was able to fly on the back of a banshee, navigate the vibrant landscapes, and interact with the indigenous creatures of Pandora.
